“The reason we are so frustrated may be that the game we are playing is too small for who we really are—and it’s killing us.”
—Victor Lee
“These aren’t just quotes—they’re guiding principles at the heart of the GBB 3-Day Recovery Residency. Each one is lived, taught, and experienced by every group I lead. Together, they challenge us to move beyond comfort, embrace possibility, and step into new ways of living and leading.”
From Adversity to Advocacy
I grew up experiencing poverty, child abuse, and the profound void of watching my father walk out when I was five. While I didn’t know it then, I was enrolling in the prestigious school of adversity. Driven both by fear and an inner fire, I began to push myself to excel. By age 21, despite little formal education, I worked my way into aerospace engineering—contributing to critical defense initiatives, intelligence satellites, and the Space Shuttle Orbiter program.
However, a door I had opened at age 17 eventually caught up with me. By 1985, severe addiction had left me homeless, isolated, and at risk of losing everything. The waiting list for treatment in Los Angeles was over two years, but I was blessed to secure a bed in my hometown. Like many clients entering your doors today, I arrived angry, guarded, and unwilling to face the man in the mirror.
My turning point came through what I call the “Gift of Desperation.” Embracing radical humility and rigorous self-accountability, I realized recovery required far more than simple abstinence—it demanded a complete structural redesign of character. I completed primary treatment, engaged in 22 months of intensive aftercare, sponsored others, and anchored my life in non-negotiable daily practices—four weekly 12-step meetings, ongoing therapy, and constant personal growth.
I took total responsibility for my path: raising my children as a devoted single father and continuously investing in my own development. Over four decades later, that foundation has powered a life of extraordinary purpose.
Today, with over 40 years of continuous recovery, I am a retired SUD therapist, four-time scholar, professional speaker and facilitator, executive coach, and three-time published author. I created the 3-Day Recovery Residency to bring this exact bridge—aligning raw lived experience with proven behavioral science—directly into treatment facilities.
My mission is to partner with clinical leaders to instill the post-treatment mindsets, actions, and accountability required for lifelong recovery. Let’s create proof of transformation—together.
GBB Inspirational Recovery bridges the gap between clinical stabilization and radical self-actualization. With over four decades of lived recovery and 26 years of professional facilitation, we empower individuals to break through the ceiling of abstinence—transforming survival into high-performance, purpose-driven living.
Through our Lived Experience Approach and brand-specific workshops, we dismantle “Obstacle Illusions” and equip every person with the mindset, skills, and self-belief to realize their inherent worth and limitless potential.
“We don’t just help you stay sober—we help you become the person sobriety was meant to set free.”

Radical transformation is more than moving from bad to better—it’s about shedding limiting beliefs and daring to step into possibilities we may never have considered. This shift demands action: the moment we name what holds us back, we reclaim the power to choose a new path.
Facing what’s hidden isn’t easy, but unexamined patterns shape our reality. We can’t change the past, but we can claim a spotless future. The work is like passing through the eye of a needle—challenging, yes, but on the other side is far more than sobriety. It’s a whole new experience of ourselves.
When we look within and release what no longer serves us, we make room for everything we truly need and deserve. The old falls away, and all things become new.
“He brought light into a really dark room.”
“Treatment can feel heavy, but Victor’s energy was electric—bringing real joy, humor, and a sense of victory. He didn’t just teach us; he helped us forgive ourselves and become who we’re meant to be.”
“Mr. Lee opened my eyes to what I didn’t want to face.”
“I was hiding behind my usual excuses, but Victor made it safe to drop the mask. He guided us right through the inner turmoil we were avoiding with so much grace and truth that I finally stopped running from my past.”
“I was amazed by how much he has accomplished and that I could have that for myself.”
“Seeing someone who was once homeless and struggling stand there with 41 years of continuous freedom changed my entire perspective. Victor doesn’t just talk about recovery—he shows you that an extraordinary, purposeful life is actually within your reach.”
“I loved that Victor did not give a lecture and that everyone got to speak.”
“Most speakers just talk at you, but Victor created a room where everyone mattered. He pulled us out of our shell, brought out the group-within-a-group dynamic, and gave us a chance to speak our truth without judgment.”
“Hard to believe that Mr. Lee was most likely not to succeed in treatment.”
“Hearing where he started versus where he stands today blew me away. He is living proof that your past does not get to dictate your future, no matter how dark things once were.”
.
“I was humbled by so much of what Victor taught at so many levels.”
“His words hit you in your heart, your mind, and your spirit all at once. Victor brings a level of lived authority and practical wisdom that leaves you deeply moved and ready to take full ownership of your life.”
In 1998, with 13 years of sobriety, I began volunteering in youth detention facilities and schools. It took time, but I learned that real change starts with genuine connection—a single question or moment of silence can shift everything. Just recently, a photo from my first real training resurfaced, reminding me why I do this work.
Whether I’m with youth, adults, staff, or clients, my goal is always the same: to support, uplift, and inspire deep engagement. I approach every group with humility and partnership, believing the biggest breakthroughs happen when people are moved by their own participation. That’s where lasting transformation begins.
