"Lived Experience.Real Recovery. Radical Results.
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate." Carl Jung
We don’t see it at first—but addiction, whatever our poison, breaks us down in ways we can’t imagine. It eats at our mind, our body, and our spirit, until we’re not sure who we are anymore.
That’s the truth I learned the hard way. For years, I thought the drugs were the problem. It took losing myself—and almost everything else—to realize the substance was just the surface. The real damage? It’s deeper. It’s the stories we tell ourselves, the shame we carry, and the way we start to believe we’re beyond help.
For every one of us who has struggled, 100% of us believed it was possible to quit on our own. Left to our own devices, we failed time and again because our body and mind were held hostage—“trained to expect with our daily use of whatever our poison.”
Some of that damage is stubborn. Sometimes it doesn’t go away. But I’m here to tell you—healing is possible. I’ve lived it. I’ve watched it happen for others, and I’ve helped families and professionals find hope where they thought there was none.
Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some of us find our way through coaching, some through meetings, a sponsor, therapy, or a mix of everything. I needed each of those at different times. What matters is that we don’t try to do it alone. If you’re willing to reach out, there are people—like me—ready to walk that road with you.
With Coach-U, you get more than a retired substance use disorder therapist—you get a coach with over four decades of personal recovery. I know the journey from multiple angles: as a client, parent, professional, and executive. My approach meets you where you are, helping you face your unique challenges with honesty, accountability, and the tools that actually work.
A focused, complimentary initial consultation to introduce ourselves, evaluate alignment, and determine if Coach-U is the right fit.
Firm Time Boundary: In recovery and coaching, structure is safety. This session is strictly 30 minutes and will not be extended. High-impact coaching relies on laser focus, clarity, and mutual respect for time.
If you are facing an urgent, complex, or pressing crisis, 30 minutes may not be enough.
Immediate Strategy & Focus: This one-time extended session gives you the time to unpack multi-layered challenges, map immediate stabilization steps, and establish a clear path forward.
GBB Coach-U isn’t just another coaching program—it’s built on the hard-won lessons of lived recovery, clinical expertise, and decades of guiding real people in prisons, treatment centers, and through individual and family coaching to breakthroughs just like those I have experienced and continue to have.
I meet you where you are, blending radical honesty, empathy, and practical tools so you can move beyond old patterns and finally create the change you’ve been searching for.
This approach works because:
“When you combine lived experience with professional skill, you get more than advice—you get a roadmap home”.
Success, wealth, and status are supposed to be armor, but for many, they become a cage. You are surrounded by the signs of achievement, yet you have never been more alone. You retreat behind walls of privacy and “professionalism,” but you cannot escape the internal noise. No amount of applause or recognition can silence the truth of what is happening when the doors are closed.
Intellect, status, and money are no match for substance use disorder. Our persona—the mask we wear to project who we pretend to be—is a shadow of deceit fueled by what we dislike in ourselves. We wear it to hide the parts we refuse to face.
But here is the truth: people see us anyway.
The true cost of maintaining that mask is your physical, mental, spiritual, and relational freedom.
This trap is a snake consuming the wise and the unwise alike. Ironically, our own intelligence is often what ensnares us.
Transformation—unlike mere change—demands that we explore our blind spots: what we don’t know that we don’t know. We only reach the absolute truth about our lives by dismantling the stories we tell others and ourselves. This requires vulnerability from the inside out. It is the necessary trade-off: trading exhausting control for authentic openness, and trading isolation for true connection.
Desperation is a power unlike any other. It instantly smashes through our limiting beliefs, turning them into an unrelenting willingness to work until it hurts, and hurt until it works.
Until we become desperate enough to act, passive hope will only keep us stuck. What we tolerate will never change. If nothing changes, nothing changes.
“We cannot coach ourselves on the roads we have yet to travel.”
Transformation is like going through the eye of a needle, and you’ll want to quit. My job is to talk you off the ledge.
The moment you take the mask off, the sooner you will be able to accept what you are denying. That will be a great start.
Everything that has made you successful cannot help but where you are unwilling to budge. You can’t be where you’re unwilling to go.
“Your life is in what you are hiding.” The game you are playing is too small for who you really are, and it is killing you”.
This will require the level of loyalty you gave your disease and more, and it will cost you a whole lot less.
You must be willing to give what you want. Respect the support, your family, and yourself. No one else is coming; you are the one.
Forty years ago, I was “greasier than a restaurant mop”—and I couldn’t see it. In truth, I wasn’t ready to see it. I hadn’t reached that point of real honesty with myself.
Carl Jung said the ego and the true self are always at war. The turning point comes when you stop letting your ego, your old habits, or your pain make your decisions for you.
Here’s the truth: We are defined by what we do, not what we say we’ll do.
Transformation isn’t about losing yourself; it’s about finally meeting yourself. It’s about stripping away the layers that aren’t really you, and reclaiming the power you gave away to the old “Decision Maker.”
Change begins the moment you set your non-negotiables—those lines you will not cross, no matter what.
The choice is yours. Tomorrow is not promised.
